This photo was taken for The Advertiser when they came out to do a story about me and my project. I was explaining how I’m helping South Australian beekeepers especially hobbyists get ready for Varroa by sharing easy-to-understand information, interviews, and hands-on experience through my website, Varroa Ready SA.
The picture shows me working one of my hives at home in Sunlands, where I’ve been learning how to raise gentle, productive queens and build stronger colonies. For me, beekeeping isn’t just a hobby it’s something I’m really passionate about, and I want to make sure every beekeeper, no matter how big or small, feels confident managing their hives.
Being featured in the paper was a really proud moment. It showed that people are starting to recognise the importance of being prepared for Varroa and supporting our local bees and beekeepers.
